From my sculptural mood board I developed my idea to design and create a garment,
My idea was to create a sculptural leotard with strong shoulders..very on trend, and then using the Guggenheim and a photograph taken from the doberman studio,

I wanted to create a cage skirt, much like the victorian crinoline cage skirts, however instead of using wood, crinoline or metal using paper, due to the whole garment being created out of paper.
Below you can see photographs of my first attempt at the garment - I had never created a garment using paper before so it was a case of playing around with the paper at first in order to see what i could achieve. Look below.

I'm happy with how the shoulders turned out, they are very symettrical and have strong clean lines, If you look below the bottom half didn't turn out quite as well

The paper wasn't stiff enough in order to gain the cage effect that i had in mind, so instead the result is more like the Herve Lerger bandage dresses, which is not quite what i had in mind, after research and realising where i had gone wrong, i think in order to get the desired effect i would have to incorporate wire into the main skirt.

I intend to go back to this garment and re-make it in my spare time, keep checking back, as i will post pictures of the final garment.
